Every lesson is built around you. You can talk about exactly what matters to you and use new Mandarin right away to share your own stories, ideas, and everyday life.
I use plenty of guided repetition, correct your pronunciation as you speak, and send review notes, videos, and practice after class. You can also ask for videos early and preview them before we meet, so you feel ready to speak from the start.
We use as much Mandarin as possible. If you get stuck, English, Japanese, or Korean is always welcome—I’ll understand you, then help you say it in Chinese.

Hi, I’m Matt.
I’m a Mandarin teacher who also knows what it feels like to learn another language. I studied Japanese, spent time learning in Korea, and went on to study Teaching Chinese at National Chengchi University.
My classes use guided questions and plenty of practice to help you turn the language you understand into the language you can use.
